SpyGlass DS Direct Visualization System

Ramkrishna CARE hospitals having facility of Boston scientific Spyglass DS direct visualization System for Advanced Diagnosis and Treatment of pancreatico-biliary diseases, providing cutting-edge capabilities for diagnosing and treating these conditions using the SpyGlass DS Direct Visualization System.

Digital + Simple = DS

The SpyGlass DS System, used for cholangiopancreatoscopy, is designed to optimize procedural efficiency and productivity with improved ease of setup, ease of use, and image quality.

The SpyGlass DS System allows a single operator to perform procedures as well as guide devices to examine, diagnose and treat pancreaticobiliary conditions.

  •  High resolution direct imaging and therapy
  •  Biopsy targeting
  •  Stone fragmentation
  •  More efficient evaluations*
  •  Reduced need for additional testing or repeat procedures
  •  Use as an extension of an ERCP procedure

Enhanced Visualization

SpyGlass DS provides visualization and access for diagnostic and therapeutic applications, including:

  •  Biliary System Cancer
  •  Pancreatic Cancer
  •  Bile Duct Cancer
  •  Gallbladder Cancer
  •  Intraductal Pancreatic Mucinous Tumor (IPMT)
  •  Intraductal Papillary Mucinous Neoplasms of the Pancreas (IPMN)
  •  Choledocholithiasis and Cholelithiasis (Gallstones)
  •  Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC)
  •  Pancreatitis
  •  Indeterminate Pancreatic Strictures/Masses
  •  Pancreatic Stones/Debris
  •  Intraductal Papillary Mucinous Tumors of the Pancreas (IPMT)
  •  Biliary papillomatosis

Why is it used?

The SpyGlass DS Direct Visualization System has eliminated blind spots in addressing biliary system disorders. This system allows for the diagnosis and treatment of potentially life-threatening conditions related to the liver, pancreas, and gallbladder with direct visualization. The benefits of the SpyGlass DS include:

  • Prompt and informed surgical decisions.
  • Identification of stones that may have been overlooked.
  • Successful stone removal in a single procedure.
  • Enhanced visual precision.
  • Greater sensitivity for tissue sampling.
  • A high success rate for therapeutic procedures.

What happens during the procedure?

The SpyGlass DS Direct Visualization System is designed with advanced features that enhance visualization and streamline procedures. It includes a fully integrated SpyScope DS Access and Delivery Catheter and a single-use scope, eliminating the need for probe reprocessing and preventing image quality degradation from multiple uses. The integrated digital sensor provides exceptional imaging, with significantly greater resolution and a 60% wider field of view compared to alternative systems. Additionally, the system features an integrated controller that conveniently fits on a standard ERCP cart, allowing for easy setup and minimizing procedural delays.

The procedure will be performed under local anesthesia, and you may be given a sedative to help you relax. A flexible tube (endoscope) will be inserted through your mouth and into your esophagus, stomach, and duodenum to examine your bile or pancreatic duct. The endoscope is equipped with a camera that allows your doctor to view the area on a screen. Once a blockage is identified, various tools can be inserted through the endoscope to open the blockage, remove or break up stones, or obtain tissue samples for biopsy.
